Spiti Valley - Cold Dessert Mountain Valley

Spiti Valley is a cold desert mountain valley located high in the Himalayas in the north-eastern part of the northern Indian State of Himachal Pradesh. The name "Spiti" means "The Middle Land", the land between Tibet and India.



How to reach Spiti Valley - We can reach Spiti Valley both from Shimla & Manali. To reach Spiti from Shimla you can rent a Enfield , Taxi or travel through road transport bus. But for breath taking road trip one should choose Manali - Spiti route. Road trip from Manali begins from Manali passing through Rohtang Pass in Leh-Manali Highway. After crossing Rohtang Pass switch to Gramphu-Kaza road & your off road journey will begin. Chatru > Chota Dhara > Kunzum Pass > Kaza > Tabo > Rampur > Narkanda > Shimla. Kunzum Pass is the highest motorable pass you'll be crossing in this road trip in Lahaul Valley. It is situated 4600 metres above the sea level with Buddhist stupas at the top of the pass & it is believed that one should do 'Parikrama' for good health & wellness before proceeding beyond Kunzum Pass.



Where to stay in Spiti - You can stay in Kaza Village in Spiti Valley. You'll get both home stay & hotels at Kaza which will cost you around 800-1000 Rupees.



Things to do around Spiti Valley - Spiti Valley is famous for its beauty itself & life time road trip. Chandratal Lake , Kibber are the places one should must visit. Camping at Chandratal Lake & Star grazing are things to do in Spiti Valley.






Things to pack before leaving - Spiti Valley is very cold place & one should pack enough woollen clothes for the trip, enough cash ( because you'll get ATM directly at Kaza which doesn't works properly maximum of the days ) , enough fuel ( Fuel station directly at Kaza after Manali & Only cash accepted at fuel station ) , Carry a BSNL postpaid sim card & that will work only at Kaza. No network after Manali till Rampur.
